Between the Atlantic and rolling hills, the Lisbon wine region is one of the most unique in the production of Portuguese wines with a maritime influence.
With a tradition dating back to Roman times, Lisbon became one of the major export regions for Portuguese wines between the 17th and 18th centuries. The proximity to the ocean plays a decisive role here, prolonging ripening and preserving the natural acidity of the grapes.
This Atlantic influence gives Lisbon wines freshness, minerality and aromatic precision. In Colares, vineyards planted on sandy soils – many of which are still in the open – produce rare wines with great longevity.
Varieties such as Arinto, Touriga Nacional, Pinot Noir and Syrah express this coastal terroir in an exemplary way, producing fresh, elegant and gastronomic Portuguese wines.
Today, Lisbon has established itself as one of the most innovative of the Portuguese wine regions, producing Atlantic wines of great identity.
